Preparing for take-off...

Nihao (Hello), Zhuhai, China.. Watch out, here we come. CHINA!!!You will never be the same again!!!

Yup Harry and I are moving to Zhuhai at the end of September.. Harry's work takes us there on a special assignment for 3-5 years.. Call us Crazy, but we're excited...

My goal is to blog our experience little by little and share it with you. Share what we have learned about this exotic culture. Travel in a so different part of the world than ours and blog it so I won't forget..(I do that sometimes)..

We have 6 weeks to go and the preparation is going slowly but surely. Today the movers are coming to look at our stuff to figure out how much we have of it. Well we have moved quite a few times, so it's not bad at all. The complicated thing is what to bring with us, what to put in storage, what to give to the kids and what to throw out. Deciding whatto do with the cars, the animals etc...We already had a big yard sale so not much is going in the trash. I don't like throwing out stuff anyway. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle : )

We are trying to sell our house, but darn this market is soooooo slow. I guess it just takes 1 buyer. The right one will come along, hopefully it's before we leave. This week-end we had an open house. Cleaned the house top to bottom, inside out, and did not get 1 person, ZLITCH!!!
Oh well, my house is clean..

One of the things we have to do is shop for stuff that we can't get over there. For example: I am 5'6 and a few lbs extra than I should have, so it will be difficult to find clothes for me there. The Large for women there is a small here. So that causes a problem. I have to shop!! AHHHH..Shoes? forget that, I better come equipped. The chinese forgot to grow there feet! They're lucky they don't topple over with those small things..

They don't have dental floss over there, WEIRD!!! They do have bamboo toothpicks everywhere though. But I need my dental floss. And my favoite toothpaste. I do the Organic thing and I will have to find the right spot that sells organic in China..
We have ordered power converters for the house in China. They function on 220. So all the electric appliances that we want to bring with us will need a converter. Especially my sewing machines : ) >.
So these are just a few of the household details that we have to take care of.. The actual big issues are Visas and medical and re-entry visas to the US etc. Now that must be done through an immigration lawyer and international agencies. Complicated complicated complicated...

I think the most difficult thing is the wait. Harry and I are ready to go now!! All we really would like to do is see our kids and good friends before we leave.. But all this waiting and details puts a stress on me that is incomprehensible. It just creeps up on you ...

Anyway, the point of all this is I will keep you posted when our big journey begins for real. I promise not to babble too much ( like I am doing now and just right about the facts of the day or week etc,,,)
