Well those are a few new words in my weekly vocabulary...
I was having one of my usual headaches one day, when one of the Danish girls here said, " Well, you should go get your hair washed!" Naturally, I looked at her as if she had 4 eyes... I thought she had completely lost it...
She said, " Yes, go to the 'Lucky Salon' and ask them to wash your hair. It costs 20 RMB, $2.50us, and they wash your hair and massage you for 45 minutes."
I thought she was pulling my leg. And how can that help my headache, I thought ? But I decided to give it a shot...
So I dragged my behind to the Lucky Salon, which is just downstairs from where I live, and motioned to them, that I wanted my hair washed. Not knowing what to expect, I was a little skeptical...
The little Chinese lady, led me through the salon, to a glass enclosure which was somewhat sound proof. In this room, was a row of massage type beds. At the head of each bed was a washing sink... Well, I'll be darned!!!! This looked promising!!! AND, there was very dim lighting in this place, which made it really inviting...
I thought she would ask me to remove some of my clothing, but no! Fully dressed, she indicated to me to lie down. My head was completely on the table, I thought for sure that it would be hanging in the sink... but NOPE!!! She draped my shoulders, and a bit inside my shirt, and proceeded to wet my hair... I thought 'this could get messy', but, what the heck.. I needed this headache gone. I could always change my shirt for a dry one...
She washed, and washed , and washed my hair til it was squeaky clean, all the while, massaging in a mesmerizing technique... She then conditioned my hair, and really proceeded to massage. She used what I recognized as accu-pressure, and swedish massage, followed by reflexology of the ears..(she even washed my ears),, and much more.. " IT WAS HEA-VEN!" I could not believe my eyes! I think I even drooled!!! She even went down my shirt to the middle of my back to massage the knots that were definitely prominent! I was sure my shirt would be a total mess!!!
After she was done my head neck and shoulders, she rinsed my hair and offered me a VIP card, so I could get a "DISCOUNT" : ) on the price!!! Hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!Can you believe this??? A discount on $2.50!!!!!!
I said no... and she then offered me a facial at the same time... and I said, "next time"...
So she proceeded to massage my arms, then my legs. I thought for sure she was done, but NOPE!!! She had me turn on my tummy to further massage my back and the back of my legs.. Really!! This was really a piece of heaven.. hmmmmmmm...and my headache was gone : ))))))) And, the extra bonus, I was completely dry!! Not a drop of water or shampoo or conditioner on my clothing!! I still don't get that.....
All this lasted a good 45 minutes... after which I was brought to a hair station and the stylist blow-dried and styled my hair... All for $2.50!!! Are you jealous yet????
I did go back, and did get a facial at the same time. In all it lasted 2 hours and cost me a whopping $9.00. And it was fantastic!!!
Harry ended up experiencing the same when he went in for a haircut. It usually takes, hmmm, maybe 10 minutes for a haircut, but that day, he was just not coming home... When he did get home, he was all googly-eyed and relaxed... I asked him, "How come it took so long?"
And he said, " Well, I motioned that I wanted my hair cut, "snip snip", and I ended up on a table, and they kept washing and washing and again washing my hair, followed by massage!" Whine, whine ; ))
Needless to say, he loved it too...
So next time your neck is all crooked in stylists wash tub, think of us and smile....
We LOOOOOOVE getting our hair washed...
