Streets streets and more streets...

We all get used to our malls and our big box stores in America...We get in our cars, drive to the mall or the store of our choice, and when done, we do it all over again and go somewhere else... and you cannot imagine any other logical way of shopping ... Imagine if you did not have a personal vehicle... Hmmmm... Where would you shop and how would you get there???????

Well, the first few weeks we were here, it took me a while to figure out what was where, and where stuff was... Where's the hardware store? Where is the pet store? Where is the furniture store, ( food is all over the place, so that was not an issue... )  etc...And what is the best way of getting stuff home...

But then I started thinking CHINEASY!!! AHA!!!!

Remember! They have no car! Their mode of transportation is the Taxi(expensive for them), bus , mope-ed, or bicycle..and naturally, walking...
So, it has to be convenient, and logical for the Chineasy brain....So they have decided to divide their stores and streets by categories.
So you have, Pet street, Construction street, Christmas street ( we call it that because thats where all the Christmas decorations are at Christmas, during the rest of the year we call it teachers street??????), Dish street, Car street, etc...
If you know where the street is, you jump in a taxi, try to tell him where you are going and hope for the best!!!! I still have not found furniture street!!!!
When you do find the streets you are looking for, you make sure you get a business card from one of the stores there so that the next time you just have to show it to the taxi driver . You should see my business card organizer? I almost need a rolodex!!! But it works...
The few malls that they have are also organized as such.. You will find all the cosmetic stores in one section, the mens clothing in another, the electronics in another, etc...
It's kinda nice when you are pressed for time... you know exactly where to go and where to get whatever you are looking for.. Hmmmm, let me think about this one... A man must have planned this, so they can go in, get what they want, and get out fast... ( The lightbulb just went on!)
So today, I am off to framing street! Harry and I have 2 paintings we wanted framed, so we found this little hole in the wall framing spot. It just happens that the owners (husband and wife) are artists. She is a beautiful painter, and he a painter and sculptor... So we brought our paintings to have them framed and ended up with 4 extra paintings. So we chose all our frames and she sign languaged us that they would be ready in 3 days.. Can you imagine? 6 paintings framed, 2 paintings re-stretched, 3 days!!! And get this, less than $250 U.S!!!! How crazy is that!!! And 4 of these paintings are Large, over the couch, big wall paintings!!! I'm impressed!!! Can you tell??????

So that's it for now!!! Gotta go to lunch with the girls, and then to Framing street!!!

Your word of the day is:  "Pianyi"  pronounced - pee-an-yee- meaning "Cheap" !

Talk to you soon!!!
